introducing...
and an invitation
So… months have passed, with never a word on madreality. It’s been very, very quiet here on this substack site.
My readers will know that last year I set up the Centre for Mad Culture UK. We launched in October and since then we have been growing in both visibility and scope. My time has been spread thin, as the Centre for Mad Culture fits in around a full-time, bills-paying job. Between meetups, book groups, event planning, community development, communications and organisational upkeep, my attention has been preoccupied recently. Madreality has become sorely neglected.
So with this post I am introducing a wee change and issuing an invitation to you.
We have just launched a substack site dedicated to the work of the Centre for Mad Culture UK: platforming mad voices and mad perspectives, focusing on issues of concern to the mad community, and hopefully inspiring mad activists.
Madreality will continue as a free publication; it will be the home of my more personal writing and reflections about madness.
Mad Culture UK will be the home of my role as founding director of the Centre for Mad Culture UK, news about the Centre, updates and posts from within the community – and it will feature creative contributions from the many and varied mad voices with whom we play. It will also offer a tiered subscription, with free posts from the Centre, and an optional paid subscription for the full range of content including videos, comments and chat.
The invitation to you, reader, is to please engage with both sites!
